Various Artists - Many Faces Of Prince The (2 Lp Whit

Facts A Double LP Exploring the Origins, Influences, and Musical Footprint of a Genre-Defying Icon MPO proudly presents The Many Faces of Prince, a compelling 2LP set that dives deep into the early recordings, foundational grooves, and far-reaching impact of one of the most revolutionary artists in modern music. This is not a greatest hits collection, but rather a richly layered portrait of Prince's creative evolution, tracing his roots with 94 East and celebrating the funk, soul, and streetwise rhythms that helped shape his unmistakable sound. LP1 features rare studio recordings by 94 East, the Minneapolis funk group where a young Prince made his first professional mark. As a teenage guitarist, keyboardist, and arranger, Prince's fingerprints are all over these tracks, showcasing raw talent and a growing command of groove, harmony, and melody. From the punchy funk of "Just Another Sucker" to the dancefloor heat of "If You Feel Like Dancin'," these songs offer a fascinating glimpse at the making of a legend, before the purple reign began. LP2, The Roots, pays homage to the musical giants who laid the groundwork for Prince's sound. It brings together essential cuts by pioneers such as Sly & The Family Stone, The Meters, Lakeside, and War, artists whose fearless fusion of funk, soul, and political edge inspired Prince's own sonic experiments. From the gritty energy of "White Lines" to the timeless soul of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone," this LP connects the dots between Prince's artistry and the wider cultural forces that shaped him. Together, both LPs form a vibrant, groove-rich tribute to an artist whose influence continues to echo across generations. It won't be available on streaming platforms.
