Phil Upchurch - You Can’T Sit Down

Facts One Of The More Memorable U. S. Instro Hits Of 1961 Was The Irrepressible 'You Can't Sit Down (Part 2)', By The PHILIP UPCHURCH COMBO. Although Only A Moderate-Sized Chart Rider, It Became A Million-Seller. At The Time Of It's Success, Nineteen-Year Old Upchurch Was Doubling As The Guitarist In Dee Clark's Band, And A Session Player For Vee Jay Records. He Went On To Carve Out A Long And Distinguished Career As A Soul, Jazz And Blues Session Guitarist, Alongside A Parallel Solo Career. This Compilation Deals With His Brief Sojourn As A R&B?/Pop Instrumentalist, On The Back Of His Hit Single. It Comprises Two Lps, "You Can't Sit Down Part Two" And "The Big Hit Dances", Plus A Couple Of Contemporaneous Singles. Much Of This Material Is As Rare As Unicorns' Manure, And Is Virtually Impossible To Find Elsewhere On CD.
