Oliver Lake Steel Quartet - Have Yourself A Merry...

Facts Passin' Thru Records presents the Oliver Lake Steel Quartet's Have Yourself a Merry..., an ideal gift to give that jazz lover for the holiday. Recorded on July 17/18, 2001 at Seltzer Sound NYC with Lyndon Achee (steel drum), Reggie Washington (electric bass), Pheeroan Ak Laff (drums), Oliver Lake (alto & soprano saxophone) and vocalist Judy Bady, who's been compared to Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughan with her rich, resonant tone. Saxophonist Billy Harper proclaims "That Judy Bady makes one's heart swing and one want to sing!!" Reviewers say Judy Bady's bold, deep voice brings a gospel-blues edge to Have Yourself a Merry..., and the non-vocal tracks include one of the funkiest versions of the Little Drummer Boy and the hippest arrangement of Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
