Jon Hendricks - ¡Salud! João Gilberto

Facts Vinyl LP pressing. Reissue, originally released in 1963. Jon Hendricks one of the greatest jazz singers of all time as well as one of the originators of vocalese style in a declared tribute to the unique art of Joao Gilberto. Hendricks's inspired rendition of Gilberto's sophisticated repertoire shows love and devotion for the Brazilian tradition through a series of accurate and faithful arrangements. Needless to add that Hendricks's hyper smooth singing is perfectly baked by a hi-class line-up featuring among others: Pete and Conte Candoli (trumpets), Buddy Colette (flute), and Laurindo Almeida (guitar). In one word: superb!
