Head East - Get Yourself Up

Facts A set of catchy, mid-western AOR with an occasional nod to lightweight progressive moves. With their irresistible blend of Midwestern AOR and subtle progressive touches, Head East quickly established themselves as one of the most distinctive rock bands of their era. Their sound-driven by five-part vocal harmonies, multiple keyboards, and powerful guitars-produced the Top 20 hit "Never Been Any Reason," taken from their iconic debut Flat as a Pancake. For this reissue, Get Yourself Up showcases the band at the height of their energy: blazing rock'n'roll, electric riffs, boogie-woogie piano, and atmospheric ballads. John Schlitt delivers an explosive vocal performance, supported by Roger Boyd, Steve Houston, Mike Somerville, and Dan Birney, each contributing a unique color to the album's compositions. From the high-voltage opener "When I Get Ready" to the percussive finale "Trouble," through the maritime atmosphere of "Sailor" or the muscular R&B of "Jailer," the album displays the full range of Head East's style: powerful, melodic, and unmistakably authentic. An essential rediscovery for fans of American rock.
