Candy John Carr - Candy John Album

Facts Forty years in the making, "The Candy John Album" is the debut, solo outing from celebrated singer/songwriter and legendary Donovan percussionist Candy John Carr. After years of successful of collaborations with some of the music world's most colorful personalities, Candy John has stepped up to the microphone and opened his heart right into your stereo Produced by Richard Barone. - How does one go about capturing a free spirit? As a producer, that is often the question. The producer's job is both to capture the spirit and allow it to be free at the same time. Yes, it can be done, and we have attempted to do exactly that on the album you are holding in your hands. I first became aware of Candy John on Donovan's 1970 Open Road album, which was itself a departure for Donovan. That album indeed breathed with the spirit and freedom of the open road, and I understand now how Candy John was a great instigator of it's ethos and conception. Since then, his own road has led to many places and spaces - discoveries of the heart and mind. It was an absolute pleasure to help him put it all together, set to the beats and melodies of his supremely natural musicality, on this very special long-player. May it accompany you like a dear friend on your own journeys. - Richard Barone, NYC 2020
